Before anything is cut or sewn, it all begins with good-quality yarn and fabric. Sourcing the right materials is the most important step in bringing any yarn, fabric, or product to life.

This service is designed to help creators, slow fashion brands, natural dyers, and others who require natural fabrics and yarns for their projects. From concept to completion, sourcing is made smarter, faster, and easier.

What is yarn sourcing?

Yarn sourcing is the process of identifying and selecting the appropriate yarns to weave fabrics or products. It involves choosing yarns with the right fiber, yarn count, yarn texture, twist per inch (TPI), ply (single, 2-ply), color, and quality for your project.

Our yarn sourcing services

We source natural and sustainable yarns for weaving, knitting, dyeing, and textile production. Our yarns are available in cones and are suitable for both hand and machine use. To maintain consistency and durability, we occasionally test our yarns at select labs to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards.

What We test

Twist per inch (TPI)

TPI quantifies the number of complete twists applied to the yarn within a one-inch segment during the spinning process. Proper twist binds fibers tightly by providing strength and durability while influencing yarn elasticity.

Yarn count accuracy

The verification of yarn thickness or fineness is commonly expressed using count systems such as Ne (number of 840-yard hanks per pound), Nm (number of meters per gram), or Tex (grams per 1,000 meters of yarn). So, this accurate yarn count ensures consistent fabric weight, texture, and appearance.

Moisture regain

Moisture regain is the percentage of water a fiber absorbs from the air under standard conditions of temperature and humidity. Moisture content directly influences yarn weight, handling characteristics, and dye absorption.

Yarn cleanliness and finish

To ensure the yarn’s cleanliness, we inspect contaminants such as dirt, seed fragments, spinning oils, and irregularities on the yarn surface.

Twist direction (S/Z)

Yarns are twisted either in an S or Z direction during spinning to hold the fibers together. The twist slants the same way as the middle part of the letters S and Z. Correct twist direction helps to balance yarns and fabric structure.

Consistency

We ensure the yarn stays the same thickness, twist, and strength along its entire length. The yarns make fabric smoother by preventing weak spots that could break during weaving or knitting. This helps machines run smoothly without interruptions.

What we offer:

  • Natural fibers like organic cotton, wool, silk, and linen
  • Handspun, mill-spun, and recycled yarns
  • Undyed yarns for natural dyeing
  • Options with low MOQs

What is fabric sourcing?

Fabric sourcing is choosing the best fabric to match your idea. It is one of the first and most important steps in making any textile product. The fabric you choose will shape the final product’s appearance, texture, and quality.
